I want to start by talking about Conformity - a concept that is determined by those around you. It is a behavior that is deemed acceptable by society, and non-conformity can lead to alienation and isolation of the individual who decides to go against the flow.

Let's try to link this to a Business story. Bob is an employee and is getting complacent, overall he is a normal guy. He wears a suit to work, and does what he was told he is supposed to do. He feels something is lacking in his professional lie - but he doesn't know what. The feeling of dissatisfaction with career is not an unusual concept, which makes it easy for us to identify with Bob and his attempts to break out in search of a more substantial professional career. Being an entrepreneur consultant seems to be a non-conformity at first - leaving a job and flying solo in a consulting career. But overall this seems to fill a need that material possessions and gathering money do not - a real feeling that Bob is directly helping businesses and startups succeed.

What do you think of the concept of conformity within business? Do you agree with the application made in this discussion?
